Theatre School Instructor Job Opening
/The Community Theatre of Howell is beginning a new youth education program and is searching for a Lead Instructor and one Assistant Instructor. This program is designed to provide community youth with the opportunity to develop theatre skills, creativity, and personal and intrapersonal skills.
Program Description
The Theatre School will consist of three classes with one designated for students grades K-2, one for students grades 3-5, and the third for grades 6-8. Each class will be offered three times each year, six times each semester, with a class duration of 1.5 hours. Classes will be offered from September through May on Saturdays. Each class will have a maximum of 25 students.
A second adult will be hired to serve as an assistant to the Theatre School Instructor.

Community enrichment: Providing accessible, high-quality theatre arts experiences for youth that are both developmentally appropriate and engaging.
Talent development: Building performers who are creative thinkers with personal and intrapersonal skills who contribute to CTH and the wider community.
Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Curriculum
Refine class lesson plans, provided by the CTH Education Committee, that support skill development consistent with the CTH Theatre School Curriculum.
Effectively communicate the goals and objectives of the Theatre School to the community.
Provide supervision and mentoring to the Theatre School Assistant.
This individual will report to the Board Member in charge of Youth Education
Teaching and Supervision
Prepare all materials needed to implement daily lesson plans.
Maintain an environment that is welcoming for children and parents
Implement lesson plans using strategies consistent with the developmental level of the students.
Provide supervision, interaction and instruction that is appropriate for the student’s level of development and supports social and emotional growth.
Operation and Administration
Maintain consistent communication with the Board of Directors through the chairperson of the Youth Education committee.
Maintain records and contact information for all Theatre School students.
Ensure that the facility is safe and secure at all times.
Manage the Theatre School Budget
Oversee classroom logistics, spaces, materials, and equipment
Maintain contact with parents.
Skills and Qualifications
A minimum of two years’ equivalent work experience in youth program facilitation.
A minimum of two years equivalent work experience in theatre environment.
Passion for youth development and the performing arts.
Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
Ability to work with diverse groups and adapt to evolving needs.
Training in First Aid and CPR desired.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Compensation
The Theatre School Instructor will be compensated $5,400 annually for the described program paid in monthly increments.
