We do fundraising events, help with current and upcoming shows, and community events such as Legend of Sleepy Howell, Melonfest, and others to help promote the theater. If you are interested, please read the requirements below, and fill out an application.

Mission / Goal

CTH Youth Leadership Council members serve as representatives of The Community Theatre of Howell organization, promoting community theater through local activities, and can provide youth voice and perspective on the development of theater programs and curriculum.

What is Youth Leadership Council?

There are many ways youth develop leadership skills in a theater organization. The Youth Leadership Council provides a safe environment for youth to “try-on” their leadership skills in various roles such as officers, committee chairs and members, program developers, event planners, youth instructors, and mentors.  Participants will work with the adult volunteers and their peers to complete these roles in various activities within the theater and local surrounding communities. The skills enhanced by the members include:

  • Comfort in sharing thoughts and feeling with others.

  • Collaboration and working together as a team.

  • Communication skills to address conflict effectively.

  • Advocate for others so everyone gets an opportunity to say what they think.

  • Recognize the importance of different viewpoints when making decisions.

  • Understanding the importance of non-verbal communication.

  • The importance of listening to all group members before making a decision.

  • Run a meeting.

  • Learn to set goals and use them when leading a group.

  • Flexibility to change a plan when needed.

  • Make a difference and serving in the community.
