Synopsis: A Sip of Wine… a Splash of Murder! The delightful misadventures of the Brewster family of Brooklyn, New York will give your post holiday glow a slightly wicked twist. Elderly sisters, Abby and Martha, mix up a very special elderberry wine which they “charitably” serve to lonely gentlemen houseguests. The antics of their nephews, Teddy, who thinks he’s the late great President Roosevelt, Mortimer, the urbane theatre critic in love with a minister’s daughter, and Jonathan, an escaped murderer who bears an unfortunate resemblance to a horror movie icon, make for hilarious mayhem. Toss in a policeman who thinks he’s a playwright, sprinkle with a few corpses and you have the ingredients for a wild and nutty fruitcake. This comedy became a 1941 Broadway smash hit that spawned the treasured classic movie of the same name starring Cary Grant.
